Every wall built at Bell includes comprehensive drainage specification, 90mm ag pipe, aggregate backfill, geotextile, and drainage outlets protected against frost blockage.
Frost and snow. Bell experiences frost on more days per year than any other location in our service area. Light snow falls several times each winter. This has practical implications for construction scheduling (mortar and concrete cannot be poured in frost conditions without specific precautions) and material specification (frost-resistant mortar for all masonry work, precast panels preferred over in-situ concrete for their controlled-manufacture frost resistance).
Shallow rock and difficult footings. The rocky terrain at Bell means H-post footing installation almost always encounters rock within 500mm or less. Rock-breaking or rock-drill equipment is standard requirement for Bell projects. On some sites, gravity wall designs on spread footings are more practical than H-post systems.
